Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is an American politician who served as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president in the 2020 election. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and in 2008.

Biden’s campaign called for departures from the Trump administration on questions such as the number of refugees the U.S. should bring in, the number of work visas it should issue, and how it should deal with illegal immigrants — specifically promising to end the Migrant Protection Protocols and enact a 100-day moratorium on deportations.
The Biden transition team this week announced its Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agency review team, and it would appear that it is on track to take that swing away.
