De Bruyne is now with the Belgium national team ahead of their Euro 2020 campaign, and Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez says the decision was taken to operate before the tournament to increase his chances of playing.
Martinez confirmed the decision was taken to approve the 20-minute treatment on De Bruyne's acute nose bone fracture and left orbital fracture with agreement from City.
