Beggars have been banned from one area of Bolton following complaints by staff and customers.People visiting the Asda and Aldi supermarkets in Astley Bridge said they were subject to "intimidating and scary" beggars who would follow them to their cars and demand money.Now a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) brought in by Bolton Council and GMP means that anyone caught "placing themselves in a position to beg or solicit money" could be moved on or even handed a fine up to £2,500.Astley Bridge councillor John Walsh explained that the measures had been put in place because of "aggressive beggars" who he said often falsely claimed to be homeless."The issue started with three large stores in the area - The Range, Lidl and Asda," he.
