It has restricted the ex- Borussia Dortmund winger to just 74 appearances in all competitions across three seasons. Barca paid around €105m plus €40m in add-ons to sign him from the Bundesliga outfit in 2017.
Dembele was made the direct replacement for Neymar, who had departed for Paris St-Germain earlier that summer. But injuries have stalled the 22-year-old's career, with a serious hamstring tear forcing him into surgery this year.
