Stuart Pearce claims talks were held at Downing Street about his controversial decision to omit David Beckham from Team GB’s 2012 Olympic squad.
Pearce was placed in charge of Great Britain’s football team at their home Olympics in London, but only made it as far as the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by South Korea.
His squad included the likes of Ryan Giggs, Daniel Sturridge, Craig Bellamy and Joe Allen - but there was no room for Beckham.
The Manchester United legend was sensationally left out by Pearce just a few months before he secured a lucrative move to Paris St-Germain, which would prove the final destination of his iconic career.
