BAFTA nominee Glenda Jackson says gender equality in the arts is still far away

Veteran actress and former MP Glenda Jackson has said how there is a long way to go before there is gender equality in the TV industry.

The Elizabeth Is Missing star, who is nominated for the best actress award at tonight's BAFTAs, said while in other industries and professions women had made strides towards equality, the arts are lagging behind.

Jackson, 84, is one of the country's most decorated performers, with a career on stage and screen spanning more than 60 years.
