Ayrshire schoolgirl wins national Christmas card competition

A Kilmarnock schoolgirl's festive design has won a national charity Christmas card competition and sold out in two branches in the first week of being on sale.Abbie Russell took part in homeless charity Shelter's national competition with her schoolmates last year but found out she had won while stuck in lockdown.The Gargieston pupil came out on top with the best design with her creative use of colours and Christmas message.Abbie's mum Lynsey-Anne said: "We're all super proud of Abbie and all of the family have bought a pack. "They were sold out in Ayr and Prestwick so we had to go to Clarkston to find some."We found out she won while in lockdown, it couldn't have come at a better time.
