Ava DuVernay is re-teaming with Netflix for an adaptation of New York Times bestsellerCaste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
DuVernay, who worked with the streamer on both her Oscar-nominated documentary The 13th andEmmy winning series When They See Us, will writer, direct and produce the feature version of Isabel Wilkerson's novel.
The non-fiction book was published in August of this year is toldthroughmultiple real-life stories, and examines how American, throughout its history, has been shaped by caste system,a human hierarchy that dates back generations but still affects our present day.
Along with DuVernay, Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes of ARRAY Filmworks.Tendo Nagenda will oversee for Netflix, having previously worked with DuVernay on.
