Red Bull's design for the 2022 season, revealing that their own concepts started in mid-2021.An updated design was unveiled by Aston Martin for the Barcelona Grand Prix and caused a stir in the Formula One pitlane, with Red Bull accusing their rivals of copying their car. That led to an FIA investigation, which cleared Aston Martin of any wrongdoing, but the fallout continues and Red Bull's concern has largely orientated around the fact that a number of employees were poached by the Silverstone team in the post-season.While Red Bull will still have their suspicions, Green claimed Aston Martin's concepts for the updated design began midway through last season and that they themselves were surprised when Red Bull unveiled their car for the 2022 season.“If you look at the development of the car that is sitting out there, right now, you’ll see that this all happened towards the end of last year.

Before we’d seen anybody, we were on a dual path. And it came as, not as a shock, but a surprise that Red Bull came out with a similar concept as well.“I think that just reinforced our feeling at the time, that of the two paths that we had open to us, we’d gone the wrong way.

I think that was confirmation of that. We gave ourselves plenty of options on the chassis. We planned very early on to have a significant change if we needed it around race six.“With the launch car, we limited the quantities and made sure the design was adaptable at that time to allow us the freedom to do something like this.
