Aston Martin's explanation for Red Bull copying doubted due to cost cap

The Silverstone team were investigated by the FIA following a complaint by Red Bull but were ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing.However, the fallout has continued in the days since and is amplified by the fact that Aston Martin poached a number of employees from Red Bull in the close season and the team was found to have copied a Mercedes design when they were branded as Racing Point.Red Bull have stated they're now conducting an internal investigation to discern whether information was leaked.
While Aston Martin have so far been cleared, former F1 driver Timo Glock doesn't believe the story being told.“The shape of the sidepod, the ventilation outlet, the underbody where you can see those small slots are all identical to those on the Red Bull.
There are far too many coincidences for me," he told Sky Germany.“Red Bull people went to that team before the concept change and now they’re the only team that had two versions of the car developing in parallel.
In my opinion, this is not feasible from a budget cap perspective.”Doubt has also been expressed elsewhere on the grid, with Williams team boss Jost Capito questioning how a two-car project from Aston Martin was possible with the cost cap in Formula One.“As a team, we would like to know what kind of investigation was done – what was looked at, how was it determined – so that we can have confidence in the FIA’s decision.
