Borussia Mönchengladbach star Ramy Bensebaini has stated that he was on the verge of joining Arsenal back in 2013 after he spent a month training with the club.
Bensebaini emerged as a man in demand across Europe after tasting success at the African Cup of Nations with Algeria in 2019, but six years previously he was training under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger at their London Colney base.
Now 24-years-old, he has developed into a player who can operate as a defensive midfielder and central defender in addition to his natural position of left-back.
Wenger and Arsenal were apparently impressed with the potential they saw in Bensebaini and were prepared to offer him a contract to join the Emirates outfit.
