Legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson thought players were too in awe to tackle ex-Arsenal stars Thierry Henry and Robert Pires.
That’s according to former Red Devils skipper Gary Neville, who played 30 times against Arsenal in his career. Ferguson’s United and Arsene Wenger’s Gunners spent most of the 2000’s sparring at the top of the Premier League.
The two sides built up a seriously bitter rivalry in that time too, with games between the pair the highlight of the Premier League season for their intense and physical nature.
But Neville insists United were always firmer with the Gunners than most sides because Sir Alex wasn’t afraid to get stuck into their star players.
