ANT and Dec have been branded "true professionals" by impressed fans after they expertly presented Saturday Night Takeaway without a live studio audience this evening.

The worsening coronavirus pandemic forced the Geordie pair to forgo the audience for the first time in the ITV show's history this weekend.

The programme still went on as usual, with Ant and Dec running down the studio stairs - but with nobody to high five on their way down.

The skeleton crew attempted to cheer and react enough to fill the void, but viewers at home admitted that they found the entire thing "eerie".
