The public has been urged to wear face coverings in 'most public venues' as early as Friday, December 10. In new measures introduced by the Prime Minister on Wednesday evening, December 8, people across the country were told that tougher face mask rules would be introduced.

Face masks should now be worn in 'most public venues' - including inside theatres and cinemas. FOLLOW OUR LIVE BLOG HERE. Currently, face coverings need to be worn on all public transport including trains and buses, as well as shops and shopping centres.

Visitors to post offices, pharmacies, banks and other high street retailers are also expected to wear a mask unless exempt. Those who refuse to wear masks could be fined up to £6,400.
