Her father died by suicide when she was three years old and Aisling has been open in the past about how learning how her father died had coloured her view of him.
It was a shared trait for humour that finally helped her to process her feelings of grief. The finale of season two sees her character Aine dealt a severe blow when she learns that Tom has died tragically.
