Adele opens up about the 'brutal' backlash after she postponed her Vegas residency

Adele has finally opened up about the backlash that followed the cancellation of her Las Vegas shows.The 34-year-old superstar was meant to take to the Caesars Palace stage from January till April of this year to perform a string of intimate gigs.But the Rolling in the Deep singer cancelled the residency shows at short notice, leaving fans in utter despair and has stayed mostly tight-lipped ever since.READ MORE:Adele breaks silence on 7st weight loss after 'crying her heart out' with anxietyBut the Easy on Me singer has finally opened up on the controversy as she appeared on BBC’s long running Desert Island Discs show to address the backlash.The recording star explained: “I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was frightened about letting them down,”She went on to continue chatting to host Lauren Laverne: “I was a shell of a person for a couple of months … I just had to wait it out and just grieve it, I guess, just grieve the shows and get over the guilt, but it was brutal.”But the Skyfall star absolutely stands by her decision as she says she wanted to give fans the best experience possible, but due to production delays caused by Covid-19 related factors at the time, she felt like she couldn’t do that.The Chasing Pavements performer explained: “I stand by that decision.

I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did, and I think that is why it was such a massive, massive story."Adele explained: "It was like, ‘I don’t care’ and things like that.

You can’t buy me. You can’t buy me for nothing."I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we are going to lose loads of money.
