£3.6m investment turning Perth and Kinross temp teacher jobs into permanent posts

Investment from the Scottish Government's budget will make it possible for many temporary teaching posts in Perth and Kinross to be made permanent, boosting recruitment.

Mid Scotland and Fife Scottish Greens MSP Mark Ruskell has welcomed the allocation of £3,630,000 to allow Perth and Kinross Council to recruit additional teachers.

He is happy to learn it is enough for all of the approximately fifteen hundred teachers recruited on temporary contracts across the country during the pandemic to be offered permanent positions and for an additional thousand permanent teaching posts to be created.The extra £145 million allocated nationally to teacher recruitment in the 2022/23 Scottish budget is the largest single increase since 2007.By the end
