£200k fund set to help culture sector get back on its feet

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.A £200,000 fund is set to be repurposed by Renfrewshire Council in a bid to support the area's "vulnerable" cultural sector in its recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.Back in March, elected members agreed to create a new Culture, Heritage and Events Fund (CHEF) which would be available to any local artists and organisations who were looking to showcase talent or enhance the area's cultural calendar with a new project, event, festival or educational programme.But council chiefs have now recommended the £200k pot is used for a new Cultural Recovery and Renewal Fund, in light of the challenging circumstances the culture sector is facing.Bosses have said.
