Zinedine Zidane’s red card for France in the World Cup final against Italy in 2006 did not go down well with his teammates after the game, particularly Willy Sagnol, it has been revealed.
Zizou famously was given his marching orders in Berlin for head butting Italy defender Marco Materazzi and his team eventually lost on penalties.
It had been thanks to Zidane that the French made it all the way to the final of that tournament after several top class displays but the ex-Real Madrid and Juventus star.
His goal in the 1-0 win over Brazil was the highlight as the midfielder rolled back the years in what was his last tournament for his country and indeed the last ever game of his career.
