YouTube is coming after the streaming giants with an offering of its own: 4000 episodes of free TV, with no subscription required.People will be able to stream everything from Hell's Kitchen to Legally Blonde, provided they're willing to sit through the occasional advert.US users will be able to watch on web browsers, mobile devices, and 'most connected TVs' with a YouTube app.
YouTube has said it plans to add up to 100 new titles every week from companies like Disney, Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, LionsGate, and more.
YouTube haven't said whether the new service will be coming to other regions of the world, but it should at least keep those who can't afford a Netflix subscription anymore entertained.
Films and TV shows currently on the platform include blockbusters like Ghost In The Shell, Hellboy, Family Guy, Cobra Kai, Kitchen Nightmares, Heartland, Sanctuary and there are many more to come. The catch is obviously a major downside for anyone who hates annoying YouTube adverts (see: TikTok), and there's no word as to whether it works with an ad blocker.YouTube's offering could prove popular following a number of price and rule changes to major streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+.
