HBO Max Working On Two Shows Based on 'Sherlock Holmes' Film Franchise

The Sherlock Holmes is expanding! The hit movies, which starred Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, is being reinvented as a television series, according to Variety. Click inside to read more… The outlet reports that HBO Max is in early development on not just one, but two shows tied to the films.

Inspired by the books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the two new series will each focus on a new character that would be introduced in Sherlock Holmes 3. Robert, and his wife Susan Downey, will executive produce the shows along with Amanda Burrell of Team Downey. Lionel Wigram of Wigram productions will also executive produce, with Warner Bros.

Television producing. Discussions about a spinoff show first came to light in 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic. The two Sherlock Holmes movies, which came out in 2009 and 2011, collectively grossed over 1 billion worldwide.
