More than 600,000 people have died from coronavirus across the world. The US-based Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre confirmed the latest grim death toll has been reached and now stands at 600,435 as of 1am this morning.
However, experts believe the real total could be far higher. Since the start of the pandemic late last year, health services around the world have struggled to handle the deadly virus, with more than 14 million confirmed cases.
The US has seen more deaths than any other country in the world, with 139,960 confirmed fatalities. Brazil is the next worst affected country, with almost 79,000 deaths and more than 2million cases.
