Dating has changed a lot over the years. Nowadays you'll find most singletons meet their partners through friends or even dating apps.But back in the day – and we're talking 1880s – things were slightly different when it came to finding the one.
An eye-opening advert dating back to 1888 has just gone viral after it resurfaced the internet. The singleton, from Texas, US, placed an ad in her local paper looking for a prospective husband.
She cut straight to the chase with her strict criteria as she wanted a fella who earned a good salary and didn't chew tobacco.
The woman wanted a man who wasn't a big drinker and could support her.In the advert, it said: "Wanted – a husband – must not chew tobacco, drink whisky or swear."Must be in business.
