Wild forest fires near radioactive nuclear site Chernobyl have covered the capital of Ukraine in smoke. An area near radioactive waste dump Chernobyl has been burning since April 4th after residents burning rubbish accidentally sparked a blaze.
Three new fires then began burning dangerously close to Chernobyl's contamination exclusion zone, sparking safety fears for residents.
Strong winds have since propelled the smoke from the fires, engulfing the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Residents of the city are currently in lockdown, and are adhering to coronavirus social-distancing measures.
Authorities have taken things one step further, and ordered citizens to close their windows to prevent the smog filling their houses.
