without the faff of a corkscrew.I’m not in the festival zone. Clarification: I would rather eat my own shoes than stand among crowds of unwashed people in a noisy field. But, with a small child, on a hot afternoon or a long evening, I’m often heading out towards green spaces with friends and finding it so much more civilised to perch on a rock or the grassy edge of a riverbank with something to sip in my hand.Cans are one of the best formats for this sort of thing.

They have really taken off over the past couple of years and, for wines that are made for immediate drinking, cans are really good.I like them at home for those times when I want a single glass (or two) without the burden of a whole open bottle.

They chill quickly if you need to stick one in the fridge or freezer at the last moment. And, of course, when you’re on the move, a can is beautifully light. There are a number of good brands to look out for.

Kiss of Wine is stocked in Booths supermarkets and on Amazon. I particularly enjoyed the Chill rosé, made from the caladoc grape (£4 for 25cl, Booths) and the Picante Garnacha (£5.95 for 25cl, kissofwine.co.uk).
