Now a new flagship store in Tokyo – a sensational 56-storey building by the Japanese architect Jun Aoki – has just opened in its name. “It was the first time we aimed to express our identity through architecture,” said Fabio d’Angelantonio, the CEO of Loro Piana.“And Jun Aoki grasped the essence of our brand - a sophisticated minimalism that in Japanese culture is defined by the word “Iki” - that he transposed into architecture with incredible inventiveness.” The result is a scintillating, slender tower that seems to be rippling in the wind.The effect has been created thanks to a cladding of mirrored steel strips, behind which a layer of finely perforated fabric diffuses light.
