Why I still watch and love Grey’s Anatomy after 17 seasons of heartbreak

I remember the very first time I watched Grey’s Anatomy, I was 10 years old and it was starting on RTÉ TWO at 9:25 pm, way past my bedtime back then.

However, I’d lie on the sofa with my parents and not move an inch in the hopes that they wouldn’t notice me and I could stay up for the hour and see the trials and tribulations of Meridith Grey, sometimes being allowed, other times not, but always making sure to catch up.

Looking back, the first few seasons were probably my favourites, I’ve rewatched them all since and it was as I got older that I realised this was probably due to the fact that I was an emotional teenager who romanticised my life, and Meridith and McDreamy only added to this.
