Manchester United and Manchester City fans are set to be allowed to stand while watching their teams once again from January as both clubs are set to take part in safe-sanding trials.
The Manchester Evening News reported in September that both United and City were likely to apply to take part in trials, after both clubs installed safe standing areas inside Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium respectively — meaning they could both comfortably meet the criteria for the trials.
Safe standing is to be trialled from January 1 after the government gave the Sports Ground Safety Authority [SGSA] the green light to begin assessing stadiums.
