Newcastle are set to emerge as major players in the transfer market - but they are not the only club who have the capacity to match Manchester United or Manchester City spending.
In a seismic, albeit controversial, £305million takeover, the Magpies have new owners after a consortium backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) struck up an agreement with now-former chairman Mike Ashley.
That means Newcastle are now, technically, the richest club on the planet. However, when it comes to the January transfer window and beyond, like others their spending will be limited, or at least guided, by Financial Fair Play (FFP).
