For the most part, the Frenchman, who spent 22 years as the club’s manager, was an astute and intelligent judge of talent.And there is a suggestion that he was perhaps taken for granted late in his career, given the Gunners’ decline since his departure at the end of the 2017-18 season.Some of the players at Arsenal now were brought in by Wenger, while others have arrived since.
It is clear that new manager Mikel Arteta will need to delve into the transfer market this summer, though there have been some promising signs under the Spaniard.
