Arsenal players were “a bit sceptical” of Mikel Arteta when he was first appointed Gunners boss, according to Joe Willock. The Spaniard took over as the next permanent boss at the Emirates last November when Unai Emery was sacked after a poor run of form.Freddie Ljungberg was placed in interim charge of first-team affairs in between the sacking and Arteta’s appointment while club chiefs hunted a new boss.Arteta enjoyed several good years as a player at Arsenal but came into the job with little managerial experience.
And while he had been learning from one of the best at Manchester City in Pep Guardiola, there were some questions raised about the appointment.
