Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for thunderstorms across large parts of the UK with torrential rain on its way to soak Britain.
The severe weather has hit today in the west of England and Wales, and Northern Ireland and south-west Scotland, with heavy and slow-moving downpours which could lead to flooding and disruption in some places.It will continue overnight and spread eastwards tomorrow to include the Midlands and even pushing as far as Norfolk.
Heavy rain is also forecast to fall in the south on Thursday. Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “Although some places will miss these heavy showers and thunderstorms, where they do occur they’ll be quite lively bringing torrential downpours with 25 to 35mm rain falling in an hour.
