Fierce gale-force winds will batter parts of the UK today as millions wake up to the aftermath brought by last night's raging storm.
Huge swathes of central and southern England as well as Wales remain in a weather warning zone for wind on Tuesday. The Met Office says that the worst of the strong winds will continue into the morning as a yellow warning, first put in place on Monday at midday, will remain in force until 9am today.
Forecasters said people should expect travel chaos with delays likely on the roads, rail networks and air transport links, as well as on ferries and buses.
There is also expected to be damage to buildings as well as fallen tree branches, with large waves set to strike coastal regions.
