UK crime bosses holding onto £2.2 billion worth of assets despite court orders

crime bosses have still not paid back over £2 billion, despite court orders for it to be confiscated.The UK government has admitted never being able to recover the huge sum of money.HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) says that only 7% will be recoverable, out of the £2.2 billion owed by serious criminals.David Lammy, the shadow justice secretary said: "Gangsters and criminals are getting rich as victims suffer without getting the justice they deserve."Financial sanctions only work if they are enforced, but ministers have given up on making it happen," reports The Telegraph.One of Britain's most senior lawyers, Professor David Ormerod QC also said victims and the general public are being failed by the confiscation regime.He added:.
