UK coronavirus hospital deaths surge by 351 more than doubling in just one week

A further 351 people have died in UK hospitals from the coronavirus, more than doubling in a week. In England 266 patients have passed away, 69 in Wales, three in Scotland and 13 in Northern Ireland.

Last Sunday 165 people lost their lives with Covid-19 in UK hospitals, less than half today's total. However, NHS Wales did not release figures last Sunday due to a "planned maintenance" of its information management system, a statement on its website said.

Yesterday the coronavirus claimed the lives of 432 more people in UK hospitals. England reported 339 deaths, Wales had 35, Scotland recorded 41 and Northern Ireland reported 17.
