By Jill Goldsmith U.S. new unemployement claims jumped by 5.245 million for the week ended April 11, down from a revised 6.6 milllion the previous week but continuing to set records with total claims filed over the past four weeks alone now at 22 million.
The closely watched statistic has become the best indicator of the impact the cornavirus pandemic is having on the U.S. economy.
