The U.S. Capitol was on lockdown on Friday after authorities said that someone rammed a vehicle into a security barricade on the Senate side of the complex.Two officers were injured and a suspect is in custody, according to U.S.
Capitol Police.“USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers,” authorities said in a statement. “A suspect is in custody.
Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.”CNN and other outlets quickly shifted to coverage of images from the Senate side of the complex, where a blue sedan was shown smashed in at a security barrier.
