Tyson Fury’s camp are in talks about a potential £15million fight against unheralded Australian Jai Opetaia. Fury’s promoter Bob Arum claims initial negotiations have taken place for the WBC champion to face Opetaia in Sydney next year.
That’s despite the fact Deontay Wilder has already enacted his rematch clause to set up a trilogy fight in the summer. Facing the Gypsy King would be a massive step up in class for Opetaia, who is unbeaten in the cruiserweight division with 19 straight victories.
Fury would gather an astronomical £15million from the bout at the Bankwest Stadium, according to the Australian Daily Telegraph.
