Today (Sunday) Greater Manchester Police revealed details of the Saturday afternoon incident which left two people in hospital.

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his hands, arms and back - he remains in a serious condition in hospital.

A 53-year-old woman was taken to hospital with an injury to her hand but was discharged later. Police were called shortly after 2pm on Saturday to reports of a stabbing on Mellor Street, Rochdale.
