A man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident which left the man with a wound to his neck.
The officer who was dealing with an unrelated incident found the man injured on Rochdale Road in Blackley just after 7:20pm Emergency services were scrambled and the victim, who is in his thirties, was rushed to hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. Police believe the incident to have been a stabbing but said enquiries were on-going.
