A tiny baby born weighing just 1.03lbs has celebrated her first birthday after an incredible battle for survival. Islay McDevitt, from Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, had to spend the first 119 days of her life in hospital after she was born premature at just 23 weeks.
Medics told her mum Tricia, 31, and dad Jamie, 34, were told she had a less than 20 per cent chance of survival, the Daily Record reports.
The newborn had to endure several nerve-wracking surgeries and procedures, blood transfusions and a life-threatening battle with sepsis.
