Self-proclaimed Tiger King Joe Exotic is currently two months into a 22-year prison sentence for trying to hire a hitman to kill an animal activist.

In January this year the flamboyant former owner of Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park was sentenced for trying to hire a killer - who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent - to murder an animal rights activist.

He was also convicted of eight counts of falsifying wildlife records, and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act - which included killing five tigers at his zoo in October 2017, without a vet present.

Netflix is focusing on Exotic’s colourful life, battles with Carole Baskin and court case in its docuseries, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.
