Mauricio Pochettino could do some big business if he takes on the manager’s job at Newcastle as a £300m deal edges closer. The Magpies are set for investment from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, bringing Mike Ashley’s 13-year reign to an end.
And they are being linked with a managerial move for Pochettino, who has been out of a job since November 2019 after getting sacked by Tottenham.
Changes at St James’ Park have not been immune from criticism, though, with warnings there will not be immediate success in the north east.
But the Argentine’s presence could see three new players don the famous black and white strip over the summer. One of those players is Salomon Rondon, who is already familiar with St James’ Park.
