Thomas Tuchel cited 'Frank Lampard's legacy' in his first statement after succeeding the former Chelsea boss at Stamford Bridge.
The German coach has signed an 18-month contract with Chelsea just 24 hours after Lampard was sacked at the same stage in his tenure.
Lampard failed to build on last season's fourth-placed finish, with Chelsea's board wielding the axe after two wins in their last eight league matches.
In comes Tuchel in his place, who arrives in west London with a world class reputation, having enjoyed successful spells as manager of Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and PSG.
