Thomas Jefferson Byrd Homicide Suspect Arrested

Atlanta police on Friday announced a suspect had been arrested in connection to theThomas Jefferson Byrd homicide case. Antonio Demetrice Rhynes, 30, of Atlanta, was taken into custody Friday morning on suspicion of fatally shooting the actor, who appeared in such Spike Lee filmsClockers,He Got GameandRed Hook Summer.

Police said tips and evidence led them to Rhynes. Once processed the suspect will be taken to the Fulton County Jail, police said.

The 70-year-old Byrd was shot and killed Oct. 3. A motive for the killing remains unclear. Lee created aGoFundMe pageto help Byrd's children, which so far has raised more than $100,000."May we all wish condolences and blessings to his family.
