Social services could have saved the life of a toddler if staff had been told of suspicions that she was being abused, a coroner has said.
Ella-Rose Clover, from Wythenshawe, was murdered by Michael Wild, her godmother’s boyfriend, in January 2019. Wild is now serving a life sentence.
An inquest at Manchester’s Coroners Court heard evidence from Lucy Birch, a service lead at Manchester City Council, who explained that, had they been made aware of clinicians' suspicions that Ella-Rose was being abused, staff could have spoken to Ella-Rose, interviewed her carers and potentially even taken her to safety.
