Thiago Alcantara refused to touch the This Is Anfield sign during a stadium tour after being announced as Liverpool's latest signing.
The Spaniard, who was signed for £26million from Bayern Munich, explained that to do so would show a lack of respect because he is yet to win a trophy with the Reds. "As I heard once from Fernando Torres, this remains heavily the place we passed by for a couple of years, four more years," said Thiago, while looking up at the sign. "And to touch this symbol we have to deserve it and to win all the trophies we can and so that's why today I will not [touch the sign].
I will respect this tradition." Get the latest transfer news straight into your inbox! It has been a hectic and unique transfer window so far -
