The Holland international started in midfield against the Gunners with new signing Thiago Alcantara out with an injury. And it's fair to say Wijnaldum didn't impress Reds supporters in the early exchanges, with some tame shots on goal simply squandering possession.
Wijnaldum also played a part in Arsenal taking the lead against the Reds, as he failed to intercept a ball to Alexandre Lacazette, and then failed to follow the Frenchman into the box, providing him with space to score.
