Ex-Celtic keeper Stewart Kerr concedes he pegged Henrik Larsson as Mr Mediocre when he arrived at Parkhead The Swedish joined the Hoops from Feyenoord in the summer of 1997 in a cut-price deal but endured an up and down summer before  a nightmare debut in the 2-1 defeat at Hibernian.

However, Larsson quickly adjusted to the rough and tumble of Scottish football and the rest is history, with the Hoops hero going on to score 242 goals, winning eight major honours and firing Celtic to a UEFA Cup Final.

And Kerr is adamant it was Larsson’s mental strength and consistency which made him a true great, even going onto win the Champions League with Barcelona and enjoy an eye-catching stint as a veteran at Manchester United.
