Zara Atelier, a limited edition of heavily embroidered coats, some with velvet appliqué and braids or metallic threads, that tap into the artisanal, romantic aesthetic of Valentino, Dries Van Noten and Dior.
They’re photographed by Paolo Roversi, the Italian photographer who normally works at the Dior and Valentino end of the food chain.
This is a big deal for Zara – and for customers, not least because it makes beautifully crafted (albeit by machine) evening coats available at a democratic price.For deeply puritanical reasons no doubt, glamour and freezing half to death have tended to dance hand in hand.
